A breakthrough study has found that magnesium is better at treating depression than current anti-depression drugs.
The Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont published a study in the PLoS which found that 248 mg of magnesium a day significantly improves symptoms of depression.
Science Daily have reported that:
“New clinical research results show magnesium is effective at addressing symptoms and is safer and easier on the wallet than prescription therapies,”
Depression is still a relatively elusive disease, while doctors have certain medication to treat the symptoms, there is no cure. And the treatments have been found the vary wildly between patients, some people respond well while others spend their whole lives on and off different medications.
Many of the treatments for depression are made en mass by Big Pharma, and are so powerful some of the stronger ones turn the patients into walking ‘zombies’.
Big Pharma have done their best to stay atop of the market, and push their chemical remedies on the public instead of alternative, natural therapies.
For every drug that is made in a pill factory, there is usually a natural equivalent. The way magnesium has been proven to treat depression so effectively just goes to show that sometimes natural is best. Natural medicines have no nasty side effects and often nourish the body in many more ways than is first intended.
Other benefits that have been attributed to magnesium
Increase energy levels
Helps treat anxiety
Treats insomnia and other sleep conditions
Relieves the muscles and stops spasms
Regulates nutrient levels in the blood
Helps the heart function properly
Prevents headaches and migraines
Magnesium deficiency could be ones of the reasons for depression, and so making sure you get your RDA of magnesium is very important. It can be taken in tablet form and as an essential oil.
