Homemade Salt & Lemon Body Scrub

Instead of spending money on some expensive scrubs, you can do it yourself.

For this simple recipe you will need only few simple, pure products, that are as effective as those in the masks and scrubs that you can buy in stores. This homemade scrub is very good and healthy for your face and body skin.

You can make this recipe plain, or you can add different herbs for their benefits, for example lavender for relaxation, thyme for its antibacterial properties, rosemary to energize and invigorate you.

Epsom salt

This is an incredible skin care product,as you may know. Epson salt is a natural mineral that contains magnesium sulfide, which is absorbed by the skin. It naturally softens skin, sloughs away dead cells, reduces inflammation, and relaxes muscles. Instead of Epsom salt you can use coarse salt crystals, which will do a similar job, but which don’t contain magnesium sulfide.

Olive Oil

The olive oil makes your skin silky smooth but not oily, which is good for your skin, especially if you have a natural oil skin.

Lemon or lime juice

These are natural whiteners, that can be used as a sort of bleach to whiten your nails and cuticles and lighten dark spots on the skin, such as age/liver spots.

The fresh scent that lemon and lime contains will bring some freshness to your body skin.

You can add herbs if you’d like to add more benefits to your scrub. As we said before, you can use lavender, thyme or any other herb for some special effect.

Salt & Lemon Body Scrub Recipe

Ingredients needed

-½ cup + 2 tablespoons Epsom salt or coarse salt crystals
-2 tablespoons of olive oil
-Juice of one lemon or lime
-herb of choice (optional)

You will mix a half a cup plus 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt, or coarse salt crystals, with 4 tablespoons of olive oil.

Secondly, you have to squeeze in the fresh juice of 1 lemon or lime, and combine together. Place in a jar with a tight fitting lid and use once a week for smooth, glowing skin. If you’re using an herb, cover the top of the mixture with it and mix it in after the lemon/lime juice.

You can scrub it on dry or in the shower, but if you do the former, rinse off with warm water afterwards.

Exfoliation leaves your skin soft and radiant, scrubbing away dead skin cells and leaving you with gloving and  shiny skin. It also breaks up things on the surface of your skin that can cause unwanted blemishes.

You can adjust the amount of oil depending on if you want a coarser (less oil) scrub or a more uniform, softer (more oil) scrub.

This homemade body scrub is very good and healthy for your face and body skin.
